today was national public lands day so what better way to spend it the doing trail care, cutting, loping, and fellowship with other hikers so at 9 am about 11 of us met at the fire tower and spent about 4 hours painnting blazes cutting back over growth and enjoying our beloved state forest. if you have never been to the richloam area of the withlacoochee (crooked river) state forest you should plan on it this winter. there are about 36 miles of trail made up of from 3 loops south east and north with many places to camp. water is never a problem as this is a very wet area and in the summer months is in some places waist high and very muddy. the high lite of today was the view from the top of the fire tower as well as good friends. | |
