tomorrow my son and i head to ocala for a 4 backpacking trip the weather looks great 38 at night and low 70's in the day we'll start at buckmen lock about 8 miles north of the forest and hike to rodman for the 1st nights stay then then hike south thru the forest for 3 days we have aranged for a shuttle back to buckmen to retrieve our truck on tuesday from pat the owner of buck and bass out fitter in ocala and salt springs i'm thinking of finishing the last 30 mile between christmas and new year as i have 10 days off, however big cypress look inticing too as well as osceola natioal forest 77 mils of continuous forest however the logistics are'nt easy for the cypress or oceola so ocala may be it this year . i'll let you know how things turn later happy thanksgiving kevin | |

well we didnt quite make it as my knee gave out about 13 miles into the hike so we stopped for the night and and headded back north on sunday saw the dr not to bad but will keep me home the rest of the year. the trail in the ONF is great and if you ever get the chance to hike do it you'll be happy you did. you can arange shuttle thru buck n bass in salt springs just ask for pat | |
